The extended Daku and the Debreczeni families migrated to Canada from northeast Hungary in 1902-1903, where they settled in the enclave of Bekevar near Kipling, Saskatchewan. Both families were prosperous, middle class families who fled the Austrian-Hungarian Empire, spooked by rumours of another bloody Hungarian rebellion.
